Two new faces were spotted in training on Monday morning while Arsenal were preparing for the trip to Everton.

Per Mertesacker and Chuba Akpom both joined the rest of their teammates who were being put through their paces ahead of the Tuesday's game at Goodison Park.

Mertesacker has been totally out of first team action since damaging his knee ligament in our win against Lens in pre-season.

He has since undergone rehabilitation in Germany and is now back in London as he strives to get back to full fitness.

Akpom who was ruled out with a serious back injury in September [against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup] also featured yesterday.

The duo are however still not totally fit and as such will not be available for selection any time soon. The New Year will be an option for them.
