Granit Xhaka was brainless in Arsenal's clash with Burnley on Sunday, according to football pundit Jamie Redknapp.

The Swiss international got red carded in the second half for a two-footed challenge on Steven Defour .

That act from him nearly marred Arsenal's day but Alexis Sanchez's late Panenka penalty was enough to secure victory for the Gunners.

It was the second time the player got sent off the pitch since arriving the Emirates from Monchengladbach in the summer

With this kind of poor disciplinary record, Redknapp feels Arsene Wenger and his teammates have a job to do, stating that they can help him work on his emotions.

“Granit Xhaka is not a nasty player but far too often the red mist descends and he makes reckless tackles,” Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column.

“He was rightly sent off for a brainless two-footed lunge against Burnley yesterday and could have cost Arsenal a vital three points.

“That was Xhaka's second red card of the season for his club and he can have no complaints. You simply cannot jump into tackles with both feet off the ground.

“Xhaka has plenty of talent but sometimes when a player lacks a little bit of pace they dive into challenges to make up ground.

“There is no reason why he cannot change but it will be up to Arsene Wenger and Xhaka's team-mates to help him channel his energy in the right way.”

Xhaka has now scooped a total of five red cards since the commencement of the 2015/16 season. For his most recent one, he will be missing out of Arsenal's next three games.
