Arsenal legend Ian Wright has gone back to memory lane to dig out a story of him getting to know that Dennis Bergkamp has signed for the Gunners.

Back in 1995, Arsenal broke their transfer record so as to entice Bergkamp to make a transfer from Inter Milan.

The Netherlands star finished his 11-year-career at the club with 10 major trophies coupled with a 120-goal tally.

Speaking in an interview about the move, Wright revealed how the news about the completed deal got to him by chance.

He told Sky Sports: "I can't remember where I was coming from and I was driving back down the motorway.

"I got to Clacket Lane service and there was this big BMW 7 series parked on the wrong side of the pump.

"I had to go round it and I parked at a pump in front of it and my one was on the wrong side.

"As I got ready to pump the gas, Dennis Bergkamp walked out the petrol station.

"I couldn't believe it, I screamed: 'Dennis.' He said he'd just signed and knowing he was going to be with me on pre-season, it was like I was going to school in a new uniform.

"Dennis changed the way Arsenal were going to be."
