So Olivier Giroud gave the whole world something to talk about on the first day of the year. It wasn't just a goal from him that sparked all these but the nature of the goal.
The French international put Arsenal ahead when he sent in a scorpion flick via an Alexis Sanchez cross seventeen minutes into the game before Alex Iwobi sank Crystal Palace's hopes of getting a favourable result later in the second half.
That goal has since become the talk of football followers on and off the internet. Even some of my friends who are opposition fans couldn't help but laud the goal. Check below to see how Twitter exploded over this.

Giroud is proving to be a vital figure at the Emirates. He has had a series of wonderful displays so far this season. His impact as a substitute has stunned many and recently, he hasn't failed to impress when given the chance to start.
He was Arsenal's saviour when they struggled to get a goal against Tony Pulis' West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day. He scored the only goal of that match.
