Alexis Sanchez isn't sure if he will remain at Arsenal beyond the current season, so says Robert Pires.
Pires revealed that the Chilean international when asked if he will sign admitted to him that he only wants to play.
Sanchez has been on the high for Arsenal so far this season with 17 goals which has helped placed them in second spot and also secured qualification to the knockout stage of the Champions League.
He was the saviour when Arsenal recorded a last-minute victory over Burnley on Sunday. His Panenka penalty kick made the difference in that 2-1 win.
Arsenal know how important he is and have tried to give him a new contract but he has stalled on that, raising doubts over his future at the Emirates.
In an interview with La Tercera, Pires who currently coaches at Arsenal revealed what he was told by Sanchez regarding his cpntract situation.
"I asked Alexis last week about his renewal. He told me that he didn't know, that he only wants to play.
"He doesn't know what is going to happen, he just wants to play and enjoy it.
"All we want is for Alexis to stay at Arsenal. I hope he re-signs because he is a wonderful player, the engine of the car. I hope he stays forever."
Just like Mesut Ozil, Alexis' contract expires in the year 2018. None of them have signed so far.
