Jamie Redknapp has issued a warning to Arsenal who seem to be treating the Alexis Sanchez contract issue with less seriousness.
The Chilean international has reached the final 18 months of his contract and there has been no progress so far with talks to keep him beyond 2018.
It was widely reported in recent weeks that the parties involved in negotiations were unable to reach financial terms.
Some sources however stated that Alexis isn't after the cash but has worries over the Gunners' title ambition.
Arsenal lost the golden chance to compete with Chelsea after losing games against Everton and Man City.
No matter what the reasons are for the former Barcelona man's refusal to extend his stay in North-London, Redknapp wants Arsenal to put things in place to enable him stay.
In his column for Sky Sports, Redknapp said: “The problem Arsenal have is he’ll know his market value – and he’s reportedly received some big financial offers from China.
“He’ll also know there’s interest from other Premier League clubs, as well as the major teams in Europe because he’s only got 18 months remaining on his contract. Apart from Barcelona, there’s no team he wouldn’t get into.
“Arsenal can’t afford to lose him. On the pitch, he’s their top scorer. Their talisman. But off the field, his departure would also send out the wrong message to players Arsenal are trying to sign. They want to come to the club because it’s one of the best in the world but also because of players such as Sanchez who are there.
“His exit would give players like Mesut Ozil reason to question whether the club is going in the right direction, too – and an excuse to consider their own futures.”
I totally agree with Jamie. The club definitely knows what Alexis wants. Ifit's the cash, they should be willing to grant that to him happilly.
We all know his capabilities and the influence he has got in the team. His work rate is second to none.
