According to media reports, Arsenal have sealed another deal after previously tying down three of their stars to new contracts.
Winter transfer window activities are still ongoing but it seems Arsene Wenger is more concerned with the conclusion of contract talks rather than making new acquisitions.
The Times understands that Per Mertesacker has agreed to sign a contract which will keep him at the Emirates Stadium for an additional season.
The German international has not made any appearance for the North-London side in the current season as a result of an injury he sustained in pre-season.
He made a return to training early in December, then suffered a setback which is expected to keep him out for another two months at least.
He will get a £70,000-a-week deal that will see him beyond his current contract which is meant to expire at the end of te campaign.
We should get a confirmation as regards the new development from the club in the coming days.
