According to Robbie Fowler, Arsene Wenger who was a big fan of his tried to sign him on several occasions.
The Liverpool legend was one of the greatest strikers in the Premier League in his playing days. He scored a whopping 231 goals in English football all through his career.
Discussing about the future of Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, the Daily Mirror columnist admitted he would have loved to play in a team managed by the Frenchman.
‘I’d have loved to have played for a Wenger team,’ Fowler said. ‘He tried to sign me a couple of times.
‘I wasn’t told by Liverpool, I think they kept it quiet from me, but I heard through other channels and had it on good authority he wanted me.
‘I think he would have had to come to Liverpool as manager for me to ever play for him, because I never wanted to leave there.
‘But could I see myself playing for him? Absolutely, because of the type of football he played, and his philosophy.’
