There is good news coming from the Arsenal camp as regards player recruitment. This is not speculation or hearsay. This is not a rumour, it is confirmed, it is official!
Arsenal resumed training for the season today, the first for our new boss Unai Emery, and shortly after, the club have announced the arrival of another player in addition to two previous signings.
This time it is Sokratis Papastathopoulos who has added his name to the club's books just as Leno Bernd and Stephan Lichtsteiner did a while ago. The Greek star was said to have completed a medical over the weekend prior to the commpletion of his move to North-London.
According to Sports So Noto, the defender who joined from Borussia Dortmund departed Greece on Saturday evening as he was seen at the airport preparing to board a British Airways aircraft. This account was later validated when the 30-year-old took to his Instagram profile to post a picture with the caption "Kalamata, see you soon". Kalamata is the name of his hometown in Greece.
Sokratis' father revealed that Manchester United wanted his son but the player smubbed the Old Trafford outfit for the Gunners. The deal reportedly cost Arsenal a fee of £17million.
More signings are expected to be done and dusted in the coming weeks with Torreira likely to be the next. It is believed that the most vital requirements for the transfer have been met and the only drawback for now is the fact that the Sampdoria man is in Russia representing Uruguay at the ongoing World Cup tournament.
We are happy to see our dear club making progress in its preparation for the 2018/19 season and beyond. This is great. Welcome Sokratis. I may not have to call you 'Papastathopoulos' so often. That name qualifies as a complex noun phrase. Lol. I can't come and go and remove my teeth.
