Latest on Arsenal Transfer Deadline Deals

The summer transfer window has been a busy one for Arsenal when juxtaposed with the ones of recent years. Please don't remind me of the 2011 '5 signings in 2 days' incident that brought in Park Chu Young, Andre Santos, Yossi Benayoun, Per Mertesacker and Mikel Arteta. That wasn't a busy window because we panic-bought players at the last moment after being bashed 8-2 by Alex Ferguson.

So far we have sent out some players and brought in Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi, and hoped to get one or two additions.

In case you were looking out to see a new face before the window shuts on August 8 which is tomorrow, you may be out for some disappointment going by an update given today by Telegraph journalist, Jeremy Wilson.

According to him, the club will have no more 'ins' after acquiring five players in the last two months. This claim isn't something one should outrightly disagree with going by what Unai Emery said when asked of the possibility of more arrivals.

During his first press conference, the Arsenal manager who came in to start up a new era after the 22-year-reign of Arsene Wenger stated that even as the club isn't ruling out 'one or two' additions, there is no certainty that any will join.

Also going by the swift approach the club has employed to transfers in this window, one can deduce that they would have added more if they wanted to.

That we are not expecting an addition does not mean we are done with transfers. A few like Lucas Perez and David Ospina could still leave before the end of Thursday. The former could head to West Ham United as there are reports he has passed a medical while the latter is still in talks with Besiktas over a transfer that may not materialise this summer.
