Unai Emery Issues Warning to Mesut Ozil

Ahead of this weekend's trip to the Stamford Bridge, Unai Emery has sounded a loud warning to Mesut Ozil and other members of the Arsenal team.

The Gunners will play against Chelsea today, the new manager's second Premier League game in charge, and like any other struggling side, they will be looking to secure a reasonable result a week after losing 2-0 to Manchester City.

Ozil was one of those who performed below par against the current league holders and when asked about the player's fate if such continues, the Spanish coach said that he expects the same level of commitment from every player regardless of their roles.

According to the former Paris Saint Germain boss, whether you are an attacking or defensive player, you have to be in full participation when any of these activities is taking place on the pitch.

“There are defensive moments and attacking moments,” Emery said to reporters at his pre-match press conference on Friday, when asked about Ozil.

“Every player needs this commitment. We need to start together, whether we are attacking or defending. I want that from every player, defensive moments are for each and every player.

“Ozil has played all his career like a No 10, like a right winger going inside to receive the ball. It’s clear he needs the ball more, to give more options in the attacking moments.

“He needs to do that in each match – be demanding for us.”

From what we have seen and heard from him since his appointment in May, Emery seems to be a no-nonsense man who will not hesitate to drop any lazy one in the team. They all have to sit up and work harder to win his heart.
