The Spanish international who Arsene Wenger signed from Malaga in 2013 has since established himself as a regular in the first team.Â
He remains favourite at the left-back position despite the arrival of Sead Kolasinac 12 months ago.
Whether he will be offered a contract beyond his present one which expires next summer is still unknown.
Reports according to sources in Spain have it that the Catalans are desperately in need of a left-back who will support Jordi Alba. For this reason, they have beamed their searchlight on him as they hope to get him signed during the winter transfer window.
It is also believed that Unai Emery is interested in bringing in Filipe Lius from Atletico Madrid, meaning that Monreal could be on his way out of the club.
