Michael Owen Predicts Outcome of Arsenal's Cardiff Trip

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has given a not-so-shocking prediction on the outcome f Arsenal's Premier League game with Cardiff.

The Gunners kicked off their season with two consecutive defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea but were able to redeem their status when they hosted West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium last Saturday.

In that encounter, they had gone behind earlier in the first half before an equaliser, an own goal and a goal from a substitute sealed a 3-1 victory for them in the London derby.

Owen who is a football pundit feels Unai Emery's side has what it takes to replicate their last result by the time they make a trip to Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon.

Cardiff have lost just once so far in the ongoing league campaign. However, all three encounters experienced goal drought and this stat places them far below Arsenal.

“I feel Arsenal’s superior class will prevail in south Wales,” he wrote in his column on BetVictor.

“It’s back-to-back goalless draws for Cardiff City and they have yet to score a goal in their three league games to date.

“Although it will still be a real test of Unai Emery’s side who were second best to West Ham for periods at the Emirates on Saturday.

“I’m not convinced Emery has got the nucleus of a side which will see the Gunners’ compete for a top four spot this season.

“And it will be interesting to see how things pan out with Mesut Ozil with the German reportedly missing the game against the Hammers through illness.

“That said, I think the Gunners will have more than enough to build on their first win of the season last weekend.”

Arsenal currently sit in ninth spot with two losses, one win, three points, five goals for and six goals against them in three matches.
