Arsene Wenger has issued a warning to Unai Emery claiming that the decision of Mesut Ozil to back out of the German national team could tell on his Arsenal performance.

The poor performance of Germany at the 2018 World Cup in Russia which led to their early exit from the mundial caused a lot of criticism for Ozil.

This warranted his move to retire from the team with his reasons being 'disrespect and racism' towards him and as Joachim Low's side strive to make it to Euro 2020, it is none of his business.

In as much as his action is justified, former boss to the ex-Real Madrid star has stated that his non-involvement in international football will be detrimental to his displays at club level and have called on concerned parties to look for possible ways to make him reverse his decision and return to the German national team.

‘I believe that Germany need Ozil,’ Wenger told SportBild.

‘I hope that Low can convince him to come back. ‘Ozil is a super football player, he was not the worst at the World Cup.

‘I did not love that he left Germany’s national team because a small piece of motivation disappears when you know that you do not have to be ready for a World Cup or a European Championship.’

Yes, Ozil needs Germany but Germany also need Ozil. We saw that without him, they were ruthlessly trashed 3-0 by The Netherlands in a UEFA European Championship game on Saturday.
