Arsenal made it to the last eight of the Carabao Cup competition with a 2-1 win over Blackpool on Wednesday night.

The fixture which took place at the Emirates Stadium recorded a number of remarkable occurences as well as ugly ones. Of the former, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Emile Smith Rowe scored. It was the defender's first goal since joining Arsenal in the summer and Smith's first senior goal at the Emirates.

Previously injured players, Petr Cech, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Carl jenkinson were reintroduced into the team while  youngster Julio Pleguezuelo was superb in centre-back on his debut.

The Gunners took the lead in the first half as Lichtsteiner converted a high ball from Guendouzi who had earlier made a run into the box.

Smith's followed in the 49th minute, moments before Guendouzi was sent off for getting a second yellow card. That put us in a one-man-down situation which meant we had to be more careful.

The visitors grabbed one after that and it was all they could lay their hands on for the night. Their goalscorer Paudie O’Connor also saw red afterwards.

The win makes it thirteen straight matches unbeaten for Arsenal and means that we are already in the quarter-finals where we will be at home against our bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur. It will be a North-London derby.
