Bollywood actress Esha Gupta has shown remorse and apologised for a racist stunt she directed at Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi last year.
The popular Arsenal fan in the aftermath of their 2-0 FA Cup loss to bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur in December stormed Instagram to post a conversation in which she likened the Nigerian international to a gorilla.
This was clearly out of frustration though it is something inappropriate and Gupta has admitted that she erred and has done the needful by rendering a public apology for her carelessness because according to her, she intended no prejudice.
The 33-year-old's tweet on Sunday went thus: “It was us discussing our frustration during the game", she wrote.
“Sorry as I didn’t realise it directed towards racism. Laughed over the spur of the moment, which was the games result guys.
“I have been victim of racism myself before. But this is not something I'm proud of. It was a fault, sorry guys.”
Arsenal continue their season with a home action with Cardiff City on Tuesday night hoping to bounce back from the 3-1 defeat suffered in the hands of Manchester United on Friday.
Iwobi who has stepped up under Unai Emery has so far scored thrice and assisted six. He could be in contention for tomorrow night's Premier League fixture.
