Denis Suarez has stated his desire to remain at Arsenal beyond the end of his loan deal which terminates at the end of the 2018/19 season.
The Spanish international was the only signing made by the Gunners in the last winter transfer window in January. He joined on a temporary basis from Barcelona to be signed permanently if possible.
The 25-year-old is yet to get a start despite arriving at a time when the club had a lot of injury problems. He has only managed four substitute appearances so far including his debut against his former side Manchester City.
Suarez is nevertheless focused as he looks forward to being an important part of Unai Emery's squad in the near future.
‘I’d like to become an important player at the club. I joined Arsenal to get a lot of playing time, to be an important player and feel important I’m determined to perform well and be a success at this great club.’
The midfielder's arrival at Arsenal is a reunion with Emery who he worked under while on loan at Sevilla in the 2014/15 season. At that time, they won the UEFA Europa League trophy.
It is believed that Barcelona have set a £17 million price tag on Suarez should Arsenal want him to become theirs beyond May.
The acquisition of the versatile player will surely depend on his contributions to the team before the current campaign comes to an end.
