Upon arriving at the Emirates Stadium from Real Madrid in 2013, the ex-German international was one of the integral players at the club but there has been a twist since Unai Emery took over from Arsene Wenger.
The Spanish manager has on many occasions left the midfielder out of games, the most recent being the Gunners' trip to Belarus where they lost 1-0 to BATE Borisov in the Europa League last Thursday, and according to the ex Paris Saint Germain man, he did not qualify for selection as he did not have adequate training with the rest of the team prior to the trip.
Despite coming out to give varying reasons for excluding Ozil at different points in time, a section of supporters and football lovers in general believe there are scores to be settled between these two. According to them, it has to be something personal.
This development has led to speculations that the 30-year-old will definitely leave the club at the end of the season but with his latest tweet, he is indicating otherwise.
In his tweet, he attached a picture of him wearing the captain armband before adding a Dennis Bergkamp quote.
“When you start supporting a football club, you don’t support it because of the trophies, or a player, or history, you support it because you found yourself somewhere there; found a place where you belong.”
Ozil could surprise us by remaining at the club even though it is visible to the blind that he is no longer a part of the plan of the new manager. He had an opportunity to leave through a loan deal in the last winter transfer window but turned down the chance.

Apart from the fact that he may want to remain at Arsenal, there is hardly any club willing to match his wage demands which means a transfer could be impossible in the near future.
