Unai Emery's Response to Kepa Arrizabalaga Substitution Refusal

Unai Emery answered with tact when asked about the incident involving Kepa Arrizabalaga and Maurizio Sarri.

The Chelsea goalkeeper refused to be substituted in their Carabao Cup final clash with Manchester City at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Sarri had wanted to replace the 24-year-old goalkeeper with Willy Caballero shortly before the commencement of the penalty shootout but Kepa shunned the call to the anger of his boss who walked down the tunnel before returning shortly after.

The act of insubordination has since been criticized by many calling for proper punishment for such unruly behaviour.

Asked what he felt about the former Athletic Bibao player's display, Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, demonstrated diplomacy by not saying anything as regards the matter.

"I have my opinion but I think it's only for me and I cannot explain my opinion to you", Arsene Wenger's successor said.

" If I don't know all the situations they are living in."

Chelsea has fined Kepa a week wage which will be donated to the Chelsea Foundation. Whether further sanctions will follow it still unknown but there are speculations that Sarri is considering dropping him for some matches.
