Unai Emery has revealed what he told Mesut Ozil in the dressing room after Arsenal's 3-0 triumph over BATE Borisov on Thursday night.

The Gunners clinched a clean sheet and all three points to qualify for the next stage of the competition which is the last 16.

Prior to tonight's encounter, the relationship between the German and his manager has been a controversial subject in the media with popular opinion claiming that they have got personal scores to settle.

The 30-year-old has endured an ugly career under Emery. He hardly gets playtime which is evident from stats. His appearance tonight was his second start this year.

Ozil was recalled to the team after a very long absence and his impressive display got Emery happy once again as he hopes he can continue doing same week in, week out.

Quizzed on how he reacted to the midfielder's performance, Unai stated that he implored him to replicate what he did tonight in the coming games.

"Well. I said to him carry on, be available like today, like the last two weeks," revealed Emery, when asked what he said to Ozil after the game.

"Today I am happy, it was like what we want from him."

An own goal and headers from Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos helped Arsenal overturn the 1-0 deficit they incurred in the first leg of the encounter.

They will now find out their next opponents via the draws that will hold on Friday. No seedings or country protections mean they could be given a team from the same league like Chelsea.

Emery admitted that the journey to glory on this front is not an easy task despite having won the Europa League in three successive years with Sevilla.

"It's very difficult to win this competition," he added. "The last three who won it were Atletico, Manchester United and then Sevilla played Liverpool. There are big teams."
