Unai Emery: What Mesut Ozil Should Do to Play

Unai Emery has stated that Mesut Ozil has to buckle up in order to be considered as a part of the team.

The German has been at Arsenal since 2013 and the ongoing season has no doubt been his worse when it comes to getting adequate playtime. He has been out of too many games under the new manger, leading to an uproar among fans demanding to know why.

In the absence of a clear exposition from Emery who seemed to be hiding some confidential information, the various divides of the fanbase came up with different views. Some felt Ozil has still not proven himself to the boss while others were of the opinion that they had personal scores to settle.

The former Paris Saint Germain manager during his press conference ahead of the BATE Borisov clash has now given a clue as to why Ozil is not playing regularly.

His words imply that the 30-year-old has not been doing well in training - something he has improved on this week.

"Mostly, the key is his hand and he is working very well this week and I ask him in our conversations to be consistent, to be available for us training, when you can train with quality and consistency, it can help us with the best performance after in the games," Emery said.

"Now, this week is good for all the players, because we are in a big, important moment for the season and I look at him doing the training like we want.

"I know he wants, but we need to be consistent and available in training and the matches without the injuries and without being sick. Like that, we can find and see the best Mesut with us."

The praise Ozil received from Emery as regards his performance in training this week could mean that he will get a place in the reverse fixture of the Europa League tie at the Emirates Stadium tonight. His presence in the squad will be vital for Arsenal who aim to overturn last Thursday's defeat.
