Arsenal could be without one of its own when they resume Premier League action after the two-week international break.
Granit Xhaka was taken off during Switzerland's Euro 2020 qualifier with Denmark on Tuesday night and according to coach Vladimir Petkovic, it was due to a thigh injury problem.
The midfielder had demanded to be taken off ten minutes earlier as he could no longer carry on with the game.
When Xhaka was substituted, the Swiss side were leading with three goals to nil but tables turned in his absence as Denmark scored thrice after the 83rd minute.
The 26-year-old scored their second before his withdrawal.
Vladimir revealed that he did not take him off for any other reason aside fitness worry while admitting that the game went bad as soon as he left the pitch.
“Xhaka could not stay on the pitch,” he told the press afterwards. “He asked me ten minutes before to be replaced.
“Granit had adductor problems, he could not do any more.”
The severity of his injury is still unknown, so one cannot say if he would feature when Newcastle United visit the Emirates Stadium on April Fools Day.
We will hear from Unai Emery when he faces the press to give updates on Friday.
