Mesut Ozil Message Ahead of North London Derby

mesut ozil message

Mesut Ozil's most recent tweet on social media networking site, Twitter, indicates that he is in high spirits ahead of Arsenal's visit to the Wembley Stadium.

The Gunners will continue their battle for a top four finish when they face their arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

A win will help them reduce the gap between them with Mauricio Pochettino's side having lost their last two Premier League games against Burnley and Chelsea respectively.

Unai Emery's men, on the other hand, have enjoyed a nice time out since losing to Manchester City in early February. It was a 2-0 victory over Southampton last weekend followed by the midweek thumping of Bournemouth.

Ozil made the starting lineup, scored and assisted a goal in the game with the Cherries and he has maintained positive vibes as his team look to secure another victory.

In a tweet he made on Friday, the former German international implored fans and his teammates to remain positive as the aim victory.

Alongside a training picture from London Colney went the caption: "North London Derby incomin' ... Let's keep the faith! #WeAreTheArsenal #YaGunnersYa #COYG #M1Ö @Arsenal"

It remains to be seen if the 30-year-old will get another chance when Arsenal battle with Tottenham Hotspur at lunchtime today.

Based on the manager's statement at his pre-match press conference on Friday, selection will be based on the gameplan and until the team sheets are out, one cannot really ascertain how the squad will look like.

  1. Ozil is by far the Gunners' most creative player and, when in the mood, is almost unstoppable and a beauty to watch. His weakness is a tendency to showboat against weaker opposition, but that's just a personal thing, it doesn't affect the performance it's just not professional. By all accounts Ozil was pampered by Wenger. Apparently he would have meetings with him and get more days off than the rest of the team. It would seem that Unai Emery has put the hammer down or maybe a mixture of that and niggling injuries. Whatever the reason, his last performance was spectacular. Let's hope he stays like that for the rest of the season.

The North London Derby is at hand, once more into the breach! Is the possibility of a St. Totteringham's Day afoot?

    1. You are absolutely correct. That's his nature and any manager who wants the best out of him just has to cope with those weaknesses of his.
