Didier Deschamps Explains Why He Snubbed Lacazette Again

Didier Deschamps has given his reason for picking Olivier Giroud ahead of Alexandre Lacazette for France's upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.

The Arsenal striker has a better tally in terms of goals and assists so far this season which is why it is shocking to see him ignored for international action.

The 27-year-old has scored twelve goals and assisted nine in the Premier League so far while Giroud has managed just one goal and four assists.

The French national team boss also left out Sevilla's Wissam Ben Yadder who has 27 goals in all competitions as he claims what Giroud does is 'important'.

"I don’t think they will be happy today,’ Deschamps was quoted as saying by Metro.

"They are doing a lot of very good things, but I have to make choices. ‘They are both closer in style to each other than Giroud. Giroud is less used in the Premier League, but what he does for us is [important].

"We are thinking. It is not only a question of age with them [Giroud and Blaise Matuidi], for them it is not a wildcard, they have experiences that enable them to be here. Now it is up to them to maintain themselves physically."

I still find it hard to understand Deschamp's logic. You've got a player that has proven to be lethal but prefer to just leave him out of games.

No one is disputing the fact that Giroud has got good hold-up play but come on! Every player has got a part to play in the team and Laca shouldn't be one to be sidelined.

I just hope it won't be too late before Didier realises his mistakes.
