Ian Wright has expressed disappointment over the referee's decision to send Ainsley Maitland-Niles off during Arsenal's clash with Leicester City.
The Gunners conceded three second half goals after seeing the right-back receive a red card in the 36th minute of the encounter.
Having earned a first yellow earlier in the game, the Englishman went for the ball but his move was seen as a foul on Maddison by Michael Oliver who wasted no time in issuing Maitland-Niles a second booking.
Reacting to the official's judgment, Wright joined several others to criticise the decision as he believes the defender did not touch his alleged victim.
"I felt sorry for Ainsley [Maitland-Niles], because if I am going to be totally honest, I think Madison cheated, in that little scenario there", the Arsenal legend said on his YouTube channel..
"He didn’t lunge, because Maddison weren’t in front of him, he was at the side of him, to the point where, Ainsley didn’t actually touch him. So, Maddison used the experience of that and got us down to 10 men."
Never a sending off !!! Didn’t touch him. 😡— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) April 28, 2019
The 21-year-old will miss out of the next Premier League game which will be against Brighton & Hove, except otherwise stated.

ReplyDeleteIt seems there is a plot against Arsenal when it comes to officiating. It's been so over the years.
