Aubameyang Wins Golden Boot as Arsenal Beat Burnley on Final Day

Burnley 1-3 arsenal

Arsenal grabbed a 3-1 win over Burnley in their last Premier League game of the 2018-19 season. We ended the campaign in grand style even though the result had no effect on our already jeopardized top four chances.

The makeshift lineup was expected with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being one of the few regular starters to make it from kick-off. The decision to involve the Gabonese International was no doubt a wise one since he had something to achieve and to the glory of the god of football, he came out victorious at the end of the encounter.

Both sides had their chances in the first half. Nevertheless, there was nothing to show for their efforts not until after the break when Aubameyang exploited a defensive flaw from the home side to put Arsenal in front. It was his 30th goal in all competitions.

The Golden Boot contender added another via a volley to come level with Mohamed Salah who had previously gotten to 22 goals. If not that he sent one wide from close range afterwards, he would have recorded his second Arsenal hattrick in two consecutive matches.

Eddie Nketiah blew the final whistle with our third goal which ensured that we ended our campaign with an away win.

We had no team trophy to celebrate but there was at least an individual award which went to Aubameyang - the Golden Boot. He shared the accolade with Liverpool stars Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah as they all finished with the same tally.

Arsenal's season has not completely come to a close. There is still one more game which will be in the Europa League final on May 29. A win over Chelsea in Baku Azerbaijan will mean that the Gunners will qualify automatically for next season's UEFA Champions League. We will have to wait for two weeks to catch a glimpse of the prestigious encounter.
