Arsene Wenger has spoken in the aftermath of a tragic incident which took the lives of one of his old boys.

Jose Antonio Reyes was involved in a car crash leading to his demise on Saturday, June 1. He was on his way back from training when the ugly happening showed up.

The departure of Reyes who Wenger signed to Arsenal in the winter of 2003-04 season came as a shock to the entire footballing world as well as his former boss

Prior to the start of the Champions League final match between Liverpool and Spurs, Wenger who was on beIN Sports paid tribute while lamenting the loss of the Invincibles winger.

"I am devastated to hear the terrible news about Jose," said Wenger.

"To his family and friends, all support from everyone in the Arsenal family. He will remain forever in our hearts."

“I would like to pay respects to him and his family and say that everyone is sad at our club," the 69-year-old added.

"It’s unfortunately on the day of the Champions’ League final, a very sad moment for football.”

Reyes is survived by his wife, two daughters and one son. May his soul rest in peace.
