What Unai Emery Did In Dressing Room After Europa Final Loss

Emery dressing room reaction

Arsenal received the beating of their life in Baku when they faced Chelsea in the final of the Europa League tournament on Wednesday night.

The Gunners lost the chance to appear in next season's Champions League which they failed to qualify for through the Premier League.

Having staged a hope-raising display in the first half, they fumbled and then tumbled in the next to concede four goals within a very short space. A consolation from Alex Iwobi was the only end product to show for their trip to Azerbaijan, a very useless output it was after all.

Granit Xhaka who was a part of the squad that broke the hearts of fans revealed how Unai Emery reacted in the dressing room after seeing his boys disappoint him in grand style.

One would expect him to yell angrily at them but that was not what he did, according to the midfielder.

‘Him [Emery], the players, nobody speaks in the dressing room,’ said Xhaka.

Quizzed on why it was so, the Swiss international said: ‘I don’t know. He was disappointed of course.

‘I think we know how we played. We know we lost the game.

‘It is not about shouting. It is not about shouting everything if we lose.

‘You can say a lot now but it is not the time to explain why and what happens.

‘I think it was a big chance for us and we didn’t take it.’

Arsenal will be playing in the Europa League for a third successive season. This will surely be a barrier for them during the summer transfer window.

  1. Every message I read here is about complaints on Arsenal performance. This is not right! Yes they disapointed but whatbis next is to think for future as complaining does not make the team improve. Manchester United is in the same busket but they are busy now for the future. Forget about failures, analyse them and make future perspectives for the club betterment!!

    1. As fans, we have to maintain hopes and be optimistic but when it seems like that hasn't taken us anywhere over the years, we just have to speaks out things as they are.

If we cannot make criticism of our team when we do poorly then we would be deceiving ourselves.
