Yannick Carrasco was not available to play for Dalian Yifang over the weekend. Why it was so was unknown to many, especially Arsenal supporters who went on to make assumptions.
The winger has been linked with a £27 million transfer to the Emirates this summer and it is believed that negotiations are ongoing. In fact, unconfirmed sources claimed his representatives were in London to hold talks last week.
Amidst the whole situation, he was not able to feature in his side's match with Hebei China Fortune FC on Saturday. This raised speculations that it was probably because of his impending switch to Arsenal. Wrong thought after all.
Carrasco represented the Belgian national team and was due to flu from Brussels to London then to China but the was a delay in the first flight thereby ruling him out of action for his Chinese Super League side.
The 25-year-old later took to Twitter to explain to his fans the reason behind his exclusion.
"For reasons beyond my control, I could not arrive in time to help my team today," he tweeted. "My desire to win matches with Dalian is intact.
"I wish my team good luck! I'll be there to help my club, my president win the next one!"
As for his reported links with Arsenal, there is nothing concrete on ground right now. Will it work out? Will it not? We'll know someday.
