This is a somewhat hard to believe stuff but in as much as we are not in the position to validate it's authenticity, we just have to either believe or trash it aside.
The Metro reports that Arsenal have submitted a £70 million bid to Lille OSC for Nicolas Pepe.
In case you don't know, Pepe is an attacker who can play on the flanks. He was on fire in the Ligue 1 last season and his exploits caught the attention of many sides including the Gunners.
The Ivorian scored 22 times and assisted 11 in the French League in the last term. He is just what the North London side needs which is why many sources have linked him to them.
Moments ago, the Metro cited Telefoot as the breaker of the news that Arsenal have made their intention official by tabling an offer to his employers.
This claim is hard to believe going by what Arsenal have to spend this summer. How would they bid £70 million for a player when all they have in their transfer kitty is a meagre £45 million?
Besides, Arsenal are not known to spend that much on player recruitment. Well, what do I know?
Even David Ornstein tweeted minutes after the news showed up that he has been informed that there was no such bid from Unai Emery's camp.
We will get to know the real thing by the time the window closes. All I can say is that no one should get too excited over such rumours. You can begin the jubilation once there is an official confirmation.
