Sheffield United 1-0 Arsenal: Unai Emery Couldn't Make a Point

The international break finally came to an end and Arsenal joined the rest of their rivals as they resumed club football through a Premier League match away from home.

The Gunners were in competition against newly promoted Sheffield United on a Monday night. Unexpectedly, the underdogs turned superiors as soon as the encounter began.

The vulnerability of Unai Emery's men was so visible. They did not look confident especially in the opening period and lack of creativity was also a major drawback. The hosts attacked numerously, their continuous pressure on us earned them several corner kicks one of which would turn fruitful

Amidst our struggles, we got the opportunity to go ahead but Nicolas Pepe, the one that initiated the threat did not do so well when he was presented with a clear chance in front of goal. The  Ivory Coast winger blew the sitter. He clearly wasn't proud of himself.

We were then punished afterwards and it was one of the repeated corner kicks we conceded that aided our opponents. Norwood  swung in a corner which Egan headed towards Mousset who then sent it into the net.

Bukayo Saka also came close to making a strike but contact from Egan sent him to the ground only for Mike Dean to adjudge that a dive. We got no penalty, he got a yellow and Freddie Ljungberg was booked too for showing his dissatisfaction at the referee's decision.

The second half was barren for both sides. However, Shieffield's first half display gave them all three points while we left Bramall Lane with nothing. That was our second loss this season and first goalless match. As for Aubameyang, he could not score his 50th Arsenal goal.

Arsenal lost the opportunity to go third and now.sit on fifth spot. By Thursday, we will be live at home in the Europa League with Vitoria ahead of our league game with Crystal Palace on Sunday.
