Arsenal Complete Second Winter Signing


Arsenal has made another signing which is also a loan deal. The club confirmed this on their official website today.

Cedric Soares is the one that have moved from Southampton to the Emirates Stafoum, making him Arteta's second signing since taking charge as head coach in December.

The Portugal international joined the Saints in 2015 and made 138 appearances for them before moving to London where he will be on loan till the end of the ongoing campaign.

It was not stated officially but there are indications that he will play for the Gunners beyond June since his contract at Southampton expires by then.

Starting out in the youth ranks of Sporting Lisbon, the 28-yeat old went on to make his senior team debut in the Primeira Division in Portugal at age 19.

The right back has played 33 times for his country with who he won the Euro Cup in 2016. He was a part of the side's World Cup team of 2018 in Russia.

He once plied his trade on loan at Academica and Inter Milan.

Speaking on the new signing, Arsenal's sporting director Edu said: “Cedric is a defender with good experience of the Premier League, and of course at international level. He is another strong addition to our defensive unit who will provide our squad with quality. I know he is a player who plays with absolute full commitment and energy. We are all looking forward to going into the last stages of the season with Cedric as part of the club.

Cedric's arrival means Arteta will have more options at right back with Hector Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles still at the club.
