It was a reward for work well done from the first match of the competition down to the last. With today's triumph, we will now partake in next season's Europa League that we couldn't get through the league.
A 2-1 win over Chelsea was made possible by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who struck twice, once in each half, to restore our image after going behind so early in the encounter.
Events unfolded so quickly as our captain saw the first chance of the have which he headed wise before Mason Mount tested Emi Martinez. All these happened within the first four minutes of the game.
It didn't take long from that point for Chelsea to go ahead through Christian Pulisic's lob over our goalkeeper. This was a bitter one for Arsenal. Are we going to go all season without anything? Never!
The American was denied a second by Martinez and then Nicolas Pepe blew one into the top of the net only for it to be rightly ruled out since Aubameyang was offside.
After a range of nice passes that gave us a big chunk of possession, Kieran Tierney supplied Auba and while the Gabonese raced on towards goal, Azpillicueta brought him down in the box. A penalty was awarded and Auba sent Willy Caballero the opposite direction. Equaliser gotten! 1+1!
It was all us in control fot the rest of the opening half after that breakthrough. It was within this period that Lacazette curled a freekick wide.
Chelsea looked deadly at the beginning of the second half though couldn't get results for that. Pulisic came close again but played it wide. Aubameyang also saw his effort blocked after nice ball work from Pepe and Lacazette.
Both sides were getting careful as the trbssio rose but it was Arsenal who got it right. A run from Hector Bellerin have room for Pepe to feed Auba who then clinically scored our second which was the winning goal.
Kovacic was off having received a second booking and our opponents had to play with ten men. No more goals followed and it ended in our favour.
Arsenal now has 14 FA Cup titles, the highest so far. Arteta would be so glad he won this trophy as captain at Arsenal and now as a manager that has spent less than a season.
Congratulations to the Arsenal! We look forward to beginning a new season on September 12 and hope that by then, we will fans watching from the stands as it used to be before COVID-19.
