Arsenal Confirm Signing of Chelsea Man

Arsenal have through its official website and social media handles announced their first signing of the summer transfer window in Willian.

The Brazilian international after links in recent times has committed to the Gunners through a three-year contract as he is set to launch a new career challenge once the 2020/21 season begins.

Willian is the second Brazilian to have arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Chelsea who we beat to win the 2020 Emirates FA Cup in the space of one year. David Luiz was brought in by Unai Emery last summer.

Our new signing had a successful reign at Stamford Bridge where he lifted two Premier League, one Europa League, and one FA Cup title. The 32-year old raked 63 goals plus 56 assists in 339 appearances.

Commenting on Willian's arrival, Arteta said: “I believe he’s a player that can really make a difference for us,"

"We have been monitoring him for the past few months, we had a clear intention to strengthen in the attacking midfielder and the winger positions [and] he is a player that gives us a lot of versatility, he can play in three or four different positions. He has the experience of everything in the football world but to still have the ambition to come here and contribute to bring the club where it belongs. I have been really impressed with all the talks I have had with him and how much he wanted to come.”

Since making his international side debut in 2011, the midfielder has made 70 appearances with nine goals for Brazil by partaking in the 2014 and 2018 World Cup competitions, 2015 Copa America, the Copa America Centenario, and the 2019 Copa America.
