BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal Sign Runar Alex Runarsson

Arsenal recently sold out Emiliano Martinez who was our second goalkeeper for very obvious and logical reasons. This made replacing him before the summer transfer window closes a priority.

The club has spread its tentacles across board and acquired the services of Runar Alex Runarsson. The confirmation was made on the club's official website and social media profiles few minutes ago.

Runarsson signed a four-year contact from Ligue 1 side Dijon just about two seasons after joining them. From July 2018 till date, the Iceland international made 36 appearances for the French club, 13 of which came last season.

His career started at KR Reykjavik prior to his switch to Danish side FC Nordsjaelland. His dad, Runar Kristinsson, was a footballer too, a midfielder and only Icelander to have recorded 100 caps.

As soon as sources began to link him to the Gunners, some fans went all deep to dig out some of his old tweets in which he took toxic shots at Arsene Wenger.

He tagged our former boss "a little too stupid" in 2011 and a month later, he said that Wenger was no doubt the dumbest man on earth. He appended a #FrenchF**k hashtag to the tweet.

Runarsson was 14 years of age when that happened and if we are to look at it critically, we would say he was an Arsenal fan who wasn't happy with the club's situation.

He was quick to delete the tweets when it became clear that we were considering him as an option but that wasn't before the big-eyed archive monitors saw them. Lol!

Commenting on the new arrival, club technical director Edu said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Alex to our squad. We have been monitoring him for some time and from the analysis, he has strong attributes that we look for in a goalkeeper and as a person.”

“We want to create healthy competition for places and we look forward to seeing Alex bring further depth to the goalkeeping position", Arteta added.

Runarsson has been handed the number 13 jersey number. We welcome him to the Emirates and hope to see him do wonders for us soon.
