Aubameyang Signs New Long-Term Contract

Perre-Emerick Aubameyang has finally listened to the demands of fans of Arsenal by signing a contract extension at the club.

By so doing, the Gabonese international has ended talks of his likely move to the likes of Barcelona and Chelsea who were said to be on the lookout for the prolific striker.

With less than a year left on his contract after which he would have become a free agent, Arsenal were involved in stretched discussions with Auba and at some point, it was so clear that he was going to commit his future to the club. It was just a matter of 'when'.

It's now a done deal believed to be one that will earn the Arsenal captain £250 000 per week. In addition to this, there are bonuses that he will get if certain conditions are met. Some of them are Champions League qualification or Golden Boot Award.

Apart from the monetary aspect, one factor reported to have helped in getting Auba to sign the new deal was the assurance he received that the hierarchy were going to push to build a title-contending team by supporting Mikel Arteta.

This has already started. Arsenal have been able to bring in Willian from Chelsea as well as Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille for a fee in the region of £27m.

In the midst of the financial crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, they have still not done bad so far. The team is in good shape and will have some more boost once the few injured players return.

Since his £56m switch from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, Aubameyang has scored 72 goals in 111 appearance. No wonder the progress recorded in typing him down is being celebrated by supporters and everyone associated with Arsenal Football Club.

It was nice watching him at the Emirates Stafoum as he broke the news of his new deal via YouTube Live a while ago. Great man! Golden asset! Wakanda King!
