Emi Martinez Departs Arsenal After 10 Years

It is a sad one but Arsenal have let go of one of their own who has served the club for ten years due to lack of assurance of his genuine demands.

Emiliano Martinez has now completed a transfer which cost £17m to Aston Villa where he agreed to a four-year deal.

The Argentine goalkeeper was a major figure in the Gunners' Emirates FA Cup campaign which ended with a trophy last season. Chelsea were our opponents on that occasion. All through the journey, he conceded just three goals.

He also took part in the FA Community Shield which we defeated the current Premier League defending Champions Liverpool to win on August 29.

Martinez is such a talent. In fact, many will pick him to be No. 1 and will wonder why he had to be left to join another club.

Well, it is not the club's wish to let him go but they just had to be considerate. Emi is not getting younger. At 28 and with this form of his, he needs regular appearance.

We all know that now that Bernd Leno is back from injury, getting that will be almost impossible, so heading to another side where he will be the first choice is a better deal for him.

He has spent more time on loan since joining Arsenal in 2010. His spells were with Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United, Wolves, Getafe and Reading.

He should blend straight in at Aston Villa since it is within the same country where he has spent a lot of time gaining experience.

Martinez made 39 first-team appearances during his decade reign at the Emirates Stadium. He will be greatly missed by all. We wish him all the best on hi snew challenge.
