Auba Returns With A Bang As Arsenal Crush Leeds United

After a while off the team, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made a return with a big hit as Arsenal tasted winning after a double defeat in the last two Premier League games.

Two of our boys who missed the Aston Villa trip due to suspension, David Luiz and Bernd Leno resurfaced as Dani Ceballos filled in for the injured Thomas Partey.

We began to see good signs of zeal from the start. Emile Smith Rowe and Hector Bellerin, though off target with their attempts, raised team spirit at the infant stage.

We followed up on those to open scoring when Gabriel, Emile Smith Rowe and Granit Xhaka started a buildup which Auba connected with from the left, beat his marker before slotting in from the near post. That marked his 200th European goal.

There came an opportunity for our captain to add to his tally and extend our advabtage. Kudos to Luiz who made a run, cut back to Auba who fired but Ayling got it deflected off the top of the post.

Arsenal was given a penalty for a foul on Bukayo Saka in the box but unexpectedly, the attention of the referee was called at the VAR stand for it to be overruled. That decision got me wondering how Luiz's at Wolves two weeks ago was adjudged a penalty.

It was like some unknown forces were not satisfied with the judgment so decided to punish our opponents. Just as Saka closed in on Meslier who was trying to make a decision with the ball at his foot, the goalkeeper made him go down and this time, we got it. It was well converted by Aubameyang.

Saka was involved again in getting us our third before the halftime whistle. His dart gave room for Ceballos to send the ball in the path of Bellerin who smashed in from close range.

Returning fresh from the break, our captain headed in Emile Smith Rowe's cross to make it a hattrick, his in the Premier League since signing for Arsenal in January 2018.

Our momentum dropped after this and Leeds started to mount pressure which paid off for them twice in quick succession. First, it was Strujik's header from a corner then a screamer from Helder Costa. Are they gonna pull a comeback?

Arsenal rose from their slumber and Auba's well calculated shot struck the bar. Saka was on target too. On and on it continued till we ensured that Leeds' first visit to the Emirates Stadium did not go against us.

Three points recorded through a 4-2 win. This is a good way to head into the knockout stage of the Europa League which we'll resume on Thursday. It will be against Benfica.
