Arsenal mounted a remarkable comeback on Sunday afternoon when they visited the London Stadium to play West Ham United in their last Premier League encounter before the coming international break.
The Gunners'display in the first half was enough reason for anger among their fans but the reversal from three goals down will sure give them cause to commend their team to an extent.
It was not surprising to see the hosts take the lead through Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard since they have been the better side. This was just a tip of the iceberg. No one expected what would follow.
That should normally have put us on alert to be cautious. Unfortunately, we conceded a second before we could get ourselves back. Bowen converted from a freekick just two minutes from the opener.
Things got worse for us and we were now down by three goals to nil in a match that we all thought would be a not-so-difficult ride for us, no thanks to Soucek's deflection of Antonio's header. A gory sight to behold it was for every spectator including Mikel Arteta who was at this point vividly furious at the gameplay so far.
Arsenal were able to get a goal before the break. Lacazette did well to shoot at goal. The Frenchman saw his shot deflected for good by Soucek and it was 3-1 at the end of the initial forty-five minutes.
An improved performance in the second half birthed our second. This time, a swiftly-taken freekick landed to Calum Chambers path and upon whipping it into the box, Dawson deflected it past Fabianski to make it their West Ham's second own goal of the evening.
Lacazette headed home Nicolas Pepe's cross to complete Arsenal's comeback but the latter could not score to give us the lead when he got a double chance and we had to settle for a draw.
It was shocking to see us trailing by three goals in the first half and more shocking was the fact that we were able to turn things around to get a point from a game that looked like we already lost.
International break is next. It will end after two weeks and then by Easter Sunday which is April 4, we will be at Anffield to play Liverpool. Our quarter-final Europa game with Slavia Prague will come next.Â
