The Gunners this evening unveiled Sokratis Papastathopoulos who made a switch from Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga while also handing him a shirt number.
The 6 ft 1 in tall centre back will be wearing the number 5 shirt which was most recently dropped by Gabriel Paulista who now plays for Valencia.
Paulista left his hometown, Kalamata, for London on Saturday even to put finishing touches to a deal which has dragged for weeks. At the moment, he has added his name to the Arsenal books.
The 30-year-old will reunite with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mhkitaryan, two guys who were once in his former club.
We wish him all the best at Arsenal and hope he helps us in the accomplishment of our goals which is to win laurels and lest I forget, I have found out that many have issues pronouncing his name. I understand. Don't lose a tooth trying to do so. You can simply call him Papa, the name staff and teammates used for him at Dortmund.
