Arsenal Confirm Permanent Deals for Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares

Cedric and Mari

The transfer window is still wide open for clubs to bring in and also send out players in preparation for the coming season which begins in September and so far, Arsenal have joined their peers to do the usual.

We have witnessed the arrival of Willian from Chelsea as we also welcomed William Saliba back from loan at Saint Etienne.

The club has now added two more players to their ranks, not entirely new faces but two of the players who had a half-season loan spell with us from January.

The Gunners came to terms to agree on permanent deals for both Cedric Soares and Pablo Mari who have done well in their short stay at the Emirates Stadium.

Soares moved in from Southampton where he recorded 100 appearances for the Saints. He scored for Arsenal in his debut which was in the 4-0 win against Norwich City.

The 28-year old defender is an integral part of the Portuguese national team. He featured when his side lifted the European Championship trophy back in 2016. His 33 appearances for them includes the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Mari started out well with us but was later pulled out after sustaining an injury in our restart match with Manchester City (his ex) following the coronavirus break.

All through his stay with the Etihad outfit, he was on loan at Girona, NAC Breda, and Deportivo La Coruna prior to heading to Brazil.

In Arsene Wenger's words, Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares are just like new signings. We welcome them once again to Arsenal Football Club.
