Petr Cech: How Arsene Wenger Made Me Leave Chelsea for Arsenal

Arsenal goalkeeper and Czech international, Petr Cech has revealed what inspired him to make a switch to the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

According to the 33-year old, the manner in which Arsene Wenger outlined the club's targets for the next few years left him with no other option than to join the Gunners.

It was not an easy decision to make. Many clubs were in for the veteran goalkeeper but Wenger's assurance of matching his ambition helped him make a wise decision.

“He introduced me to the vision the club has for the coming years, to the reason why certain things are the way they are now and how they will be next year and the year after,” Cech told Sport magazine.

“I really liked the project in the way it matches my ambition and motivations.

“It’s a difficult decision to go from Chelsea to Arsenal, but I believed it was the right decision because I wanted to be part of the Premier League at a club that matches my ambitions. With Arsenal, that all came together.”
Cech represented his country on Tuesday night as they dashed the Netherland's hopes of appearing at Euro 2016 next year. The game ended 3-2 in favour of Czech Republic.
