Arsenal Refuse To Wave As Stars Contract Stall

We are at that period in the season when clubs and players fght it out to reach contract extension agreements.

At Arsenal, the likes of Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin have already put pen to paper but there are some who are still stalling on offers.

Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil's situations are the most worrying at the moment as the duo want an increased pay boost.

According to reports, £250-a-week-is what the Chilean and German internationals want if they are to pledge allegiance to the club on the long term.

Chips Keswick, the Arsenal chairman, has however stated that they will not let any player hold the club to ransom with huge demands.

“We have continued to invest in the region of key players,” Keswick is quoted as saying by the Mail.

“Francis Coquelin, Hector Bellerin, Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud have all signed new contracts, while we have taken up options to extend the contracts of Per Mertesacker and Santi Cazorla.

“Further work is required in the area of contract renewals and we will continue to invest rationally in our squad retention.”

I don't know of Ozil but I am sure Alexis isn't all about the money. We know him to be a player who has the hunger for trophies in him, so a pay rise wouldn't even guarantee his stay if they club's attitude remains loose.
